What is consumer patriotism?
It can be summed up in very simple terms. “Buy local.” “Buy American.”
Hundreds and thousands of blue-collar and white-collar jobs are lost to growing economies overseas every year. Small businesses and large businesses alike have outsourced many of the jobs that brought prosperity and the American way of life to our great country. Mostly this is due to cost. Our economy has declined as we have become a nation of consumers. We are now facing an ever-growing global market with access to inexpensive workforces that can manufacture goods and services for sale in the United States resulting at costs that are difficult to compete with. One of the most obvious examples of this is the outsourcing of Information technology, communication, software development and computer chip manufacturing. There has been explosive growth across the Asian continent as web hosting, website development; programming, internet marketing and advertising are now well established in Brazil, China, India and other countries around the globe. These industries are continuing to go down the American ‘career drain’ only to emerge on the other side of the world.
What can I do that will have an immediate impact?
Change takes time. Taking back control of our destiny as a great nation will require every American to step up to the plate and support rebuilding our economy, our industry and our nation by purchasing products made in America and produced locally. At the very least we can have an impact on one segment of the economy right now. By doing business with companies that are hosted in the U.S.A. you are ensuring that more jobs are being preserved and created in the IT industry. Domestic and foreign companies alike will have to move their websites to the U.S.A. and be hosted in the United States. This will bring jobs back to America. Those jobs will come in the form of new web hosting companies, more IT jobs, software and hardware development, website design, as well as internet marketing and advertising jobs. In this small but powerful way- HostedInTheUSA.com is doing their part at encouraging real change and not just rhetoric. However, it is you, “the consumer” that must make the decision to do business with entities that are hosted in the U.S.A.
If you are wondering whether or not your or someone else’s website is hosted in the U.S.A., you can find out using the validation tool on the home page.
